The Preflight

After being dropped off at Terminal 1 by our private van from the Air Dolomiti flight, my wife and I left the secure zone to walk about five minutes to the Lufthansa First Class Terminal (FCT) located off-premise from the main airport terminal.

We took the elevator up to the main level to get checked into the lounge.

Directly before the main doors to the lounge was a glass display of the famous Lufthansa rubber ducks.

The FCT was fairly empty this morning with less than a dozen passengers. There was ample seating throughout the lounge.

To the left of the lounge entrance were various leather sofas and chairs.

In the far corner of the lounge were a few recliner chairs.

Immediately to the right of the entrance was the lounge bar.

There was an extensive collection of liquor, alcohol, and an espresso machine. Bar snacks were located throughout the lounge as well.

During our visit, there was a special with St. Kilian Distillers featuring their whiskey.

Next to the bar was the main dining room.

The main dining room had various tables with seating for two.

There was an extensive breakfast buffet during our visit.

Hot options included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, roast tomatoes, and hashbrowns.

Cold options included various sliced meats, cheese, and smoked salmon.

Sweets included pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, and cake.

There was an extensive selection of bread, pretzels, and fresh honey.

There was an extensive wine collection as well as Laurent-Perrier champagne available.

Further into the lounge were additional sofas and chairs.

Down the main hallway of the lounge was the cigar lounge, day rooms, restrooms, and shower suites.

The cigar lounge had additional leather sofas with a small self-serve bar.

The bar featured various liquors, wine, and soda.

At the end of the hallway was the shower attendant station.

Various toiletries were available.

The shower suite was clean and featured a rain shower and shower head.

Amenities included Balmain branded shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion.

The men’s restroom was nice with individual stalls and cloth hand towels

My wife and I decided to have a late breakfast/early lunch in the dining room.

There was a special lunch/dinner menu for May which featured asparagus.

I had a fantastic eggs benedict with smoked salmon and avocado.

My wife had the vegan chickpea fettuccine which she enjoyed.

During our visit, we were also each given a Lufthansa First class duck. To celebrate our recent wedding, we were also given a special wedding Lufthansa First class duck set.

While we were in the lounge, I received a phone call from the Lufthansa First Class service center alerting us that our flight had been delayed by an hour. At 10:35 AM, an hour and 15 minutes after our originally scheduled boarding time, the lounge attendant grabbed us to escort us down to our Porsche transfer. There was one other passenger in First on our flight for a total of three passengers.

The total transfer took just three minutes bringing us directly under the nose of the majestic B747-8I.

The B747-8I, registration D-ABYT, was a nine-year-old aircraft delivered to Lufthansa in March 2015. It was one of 19 active B747-8Is in the current Lufthansa fleet.

This particular B747-8I was painted in the Lufthansa Retro Special Colour livery.

We were escorted up the jet bridge and led directly to door 1L where we were warmly welcomed onboard.

The Flight

Upon boarding, my wife and I were each escorted to our seats at the very nose of the cabin. Lufthansa features a total of eight individual first-class seats on board their B747-8Is across three rows. The first two rows are in a 1-1 configuration while the third row is arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration.

I was seated in 1A at the tip of the nose while my wife was directly across from me in 1K.

Each seat was 30.5 inches wide with a pitch of 83 inches.

As there were only three total passengers, the entire cabin felt private and exclusive.

I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the Lufthansa cabin.

While the seats did not feel private, there was an incredible amount of space.

At the front of the seat was a 17″ HD touchscreen. There was a small coat hook above the screen but our coats were hung by the flight attendants in separate lockers near the galley.

At the front, there was an ottoman with a large storage bin.

Along the windows was the classic Lufthansa First-class rose holder. There was also a small cocktail tray.

Each seat had access to four windows. Each window had a thin blind and a thicker black-out blind that was electronically controlled.

The enormous tray table was stowed along the window.

It could be slid forward and backward.

Underneath the tray table was a large literature pocket.

Along the windows, there were two large storage bins. One storage bin held the headphones that were hard-wired into the seat.

Behind the seat was a water bottle holder.

The inflight entertainment remote was stowed within the left armrest.

Each seat also had two USB ports and two 110V outlets.

The seat controls were located within the right-hand armrest. There were buttons to move the ottoman forward and backward and to raise the privacy divider.

The seat itself was very comfortable with ample cushioning. Each passenger also had a small reading light that could be pulled from the headrest.

Awaiting us at our seats were the amenities.

We were both given Van Laack branded pajamas and comfortable Cumuli slippers.

There was also a large Lufthansa branded amenity bag. It was stocked with Augustinus Bader lotion, a toothbrush kit, a hair comb, mint, an eye mask, socks, a shoe horn, and ear plugs.

There were also two pillows provided. Both the larger pillow and the smaller day pillow were comfortable.

First-class passengers are also provided a pair of Samsung AKG N700NC headphones and a bottle of still water.

The flight attendants on this flight were fantastic and made this flight the best one of our lives. Once they heard we had just gotten married in Italy, they went above and beyond with the service to make this flight special.

We started off with a glass of Lanson Le Vintage Brut 2012 served with a ramekin of nuts. My wife and I were also given a small rose. The flight attendants and the purser later came by to congratulate us both and asked to see some of our pictures from the wedding. The captain then came down from the flight deck to peresonally congraulate us as well.

Free inflight WiFi vouchers and food and beverage menus were handed out.

Our main course choices were taken on the ground.

Our flight attendants kept the champagne flowing on the ground and offered to take a few pictures of my wife and I in the cabin while we waited for boarding to finish. We pushed back at 11:19 AM an hour and 30 minutes behind schedule. This actually was beneficial for us as we had more time both in the FCT as well as on board.

We took off from runway 7C at 11:32 AM and climbed out with beautiful views of downtown Frankfurt.

Service began promptly once we reached cruising altitude with an amuse buche of salmon roe. I went with another glass of the Lanson 2012.

For our lunch, I decided to join my wife at her seat in 1K and we had the table set up for two. The set up included salt and pepper, olive oil with balsamic vinager, a warm bread basket, and butter.

The main service began with the classic caviar service and appetizers served from a cart.

We were each given a heaping spoonful of caviar served with a lime, onions, creme fraiche, egg yolk, and egg whites.

Next there was a trio of appetizers including veal tenderlion, marinated asapragus, and prawn and snow crab.

Both the veal tenderloin with peas, carrot, and tuffle sauce and the prawn and snow crab with grapefruit and avocado were phenomenal.

For my main course, I went with the classic German dish of white asapragus with hollandaise sauce with roast potatoes.

It was accompanied with a plate of black forest ham and prosciutto.

My wife had the interesting vegetarian dish of grilled leek with sliced nectarines, potatoes, sweet potato chips, and black truffle sauce.

We split the tasty cheese course which was served with fresh grapes, figs, and apricot chutney.

Finally, for dessert, my wife and I shared the yuzu and mascarpone mousse with orange sauce.

My wife is not a fan of fruity desserts but she does love chocolate. When the flight attendants heard about her love of chocolate, they brought out an generous amount of pralines and chocolate bars for her.

At the conclusion of our lunch the flight attendants turned our seats into comfortable 81 inch long beds.

The turn town service included placement of a thick mattress topper on the seat. The bedding also included a thick comforter and the previously provided pillows.

While the bedding was as comfortable as I could have hoped for; I was unable to sleep on this day time flight. The fact that the cabin was kept warm without individual air vents at the seat meant I was not able to nap at all.

There were two First-class lavatories at the rear of the cabin each with a window.

Amenities included mouth wash, Evian facial spray, and Augustinus Bader cream.

Each lavatory also had a lovely fresh red rose.

I watched enjoyed a few movies as we flew over the Atlantic and Greenland occasionally checking the IFE map.

I had hoped to catch some views of Greenland with the nose camera or forward camera but there was thick cloud cover.

Flight attendants also set-up a small snack station in the cabin. There was a chocoalte cake, fresh fruit, and a veggie burger.

They also came by to give my wife four more Domori chocolate bars.

I had a cup of cappuccino as we crossed into the USA.

The pre-arrival meal began just as we flew over St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

For this meal, my wife joined me in seat 1A. We started off with a sushi platter of salmon, tuna, shrimp, and imitation crab. To be honest, it was terrible.

We also shared a small tapas of cured ham, anchovies, cheese, olives, and salmon roe.

For my main, I had the beef consomme with Semolina dumplings which was flavorful.

My wife had the red onion ravioli with carrot, spinahch, and cashews. This was the best pasta dish she has had on an airplane.

We finished the meal with a decadent plate of petit fours.

I also had a fresh espresso.

I spent the rest of the flight gazing out the windows while finishing up a few movies.

The cabin was prep for landing 30 minutes out from Houston. We landed on runway 8L at IAH at 2:35 PM.

We arrived at gate D16 eight minutes later.

This was one of the most memorable flight experiences from airport to landing in my life. The entire Lufthansa staff in Frankfurt to the flight attendants made this a special flight. While Lufthansa’s seat is no longer industry leading for first class, the food and service certainly shines above other competitors.

The Details

  • Flight: LH430

  • Seat: 1K
  • Route: Frankfurt (FRA)-Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
  • Distance: 4,483miles
  • Duration: 8hrs 17min
  • Departure: 11:47AM
  • Arrival: 1:04PM

The Preflight

After arriving in Frankfurt from Berlin, I had the option to either visit the Frankfurt First Class Lounge or utilize the First Class Terminal (FCT). The First Class Lounge is located airside while the First Class Terminal (which offers car transfers directly to your aircraft) is located landside. Having heard a great deal about the luxurious experience of the Lufthansa First Class Terminal at Frankfurt Airport, I decided to leave the terminal and make the short walk outside to the FCT, which took about five minutes from exiting the doors.

Upon entering the FCT and taking the elevator to the main lobby, attendants checked me in individually at a desk and collected my passport. There were two security scanners in the lounge for First class passengers, and after I passed through, the attendant escorted me into the lounge.

Immediately upon entering the lounge to the right was the main centerpiece, which was a very well-stocked bar and counter space.

The bartender immediately asked me if I wanted a drink, and I had a glass of Laurent-Perrier Rose Champagne. I also asked for a classic Lufthansa Rubber Duck and was provided one.

Along the bar counter, there was also a variety of liquors from the Zeigler distillery.

Immediately to the left of the bar was the main dining area with an à la carte menu and buffet. Since I was traveling during Oktoberfest, there was a special menu on offer.

Next to the entrance were two buckets of self-serve Laurent-Perrier champagne.

A selection of cold-cut cheese, hot sausage, beans, and hashbrowns were also available at the buffet.

There was also an extensive breadboard as well as a dessert selection. I decided against eating in the lounge, knowing that a feast awaited me on board.

Further into the lounge was a smoking room dubbed the Cigar Lounge. In the past, Lufthansa used to offer passengers complimentary cigars or cigarettes, which they no longer do. Across the hall from the Cigar Room were two individual nap rooms. Both of these rooms were occupied during my time in the lounge.

At the end of the hallway from the Cigar Room were the restrooms and the four shower suites. One of the shower suites also features a bathtub, but that one was also in use during my visit.

Shower amenities included Balmain-branded soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The First Class Terminal was very busy during my time there, and almost all of the seats had been taken in the dining room. To the left of the entrance to the lounge, there were three daybeds (all occupied), five private workstations (all occupied except one), as well as a few sofas.

On my boarding pass, boarding was scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, but in the First Class Terminal, the attendants collect you personally when they are ready to transfer passengers to the aircraft via vehicles. At 10:20, the lounge attendant who checked me in collected me and escorted me along with three other passengers down to the parking area.

While some passengers were lucky enough to get to ride in a Porsche, since there were four of us requiring a transfer to our B747-8I, we were all loaded into a Volkswagen van.

Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience getting driven across the tarmac along rows of Lufthansa wide-bodies right up to the engines of our awaiting B747-8I.

Once we had arrived, and all the other passengers in the van had gotten their pictures as well, we were all escorted up into the jet bridge and welcomed on board.

The B747-8I we flew today, registered as D-ABYC, is one of the 19 B747-8Is in Lufthansa’s fleet. It was delivered to the airline in July 2012 and has been flying for Lufthansa for the past decade.

The Flight

At the entrance to the aircraft was a very nice display with two signature Lufthansa First Class red roses. Upon boarding the aircraft, the purser warmly greeted each passenger, and a flight attendant escorted me directly to my seat.

Lufthansa has a total of eight First-class seats on their B747-8I in a single cabin at the nose of the B747. Along the sides were three seats with a pair of seats in the middle. I was lucky enough to select 1K, one of the seats directly in the nose of the aircraft.

Each seat is 30.5” wide and has a pitch of over 83”. When completely flat, the bed length was 81”.

I found the seat incredibly well-padded despite the fabric appearing slightly worn down.

Already at the seat were a pair of slippers, the amenity kit, and a Wi-Fi voucher. Despite the general lack of privacy, I still found the seat to be elegant and well-designed.

Built into the bulkhead was a 17” HD touchscreen display which was not the most high definition. The screen was faded and the anti-reflective coating not really working as intended in the bright sunlight shining through the windows.

At the front of the seat was a large ottoman which had a storage compartment. The ottoman itself was on an electric track and could move forward and backward for resting my feet on top of it.

On the right-hand side was a small cocktail tray as well as a total of four windows to look out of.

The massive sturdy tray table was stowed underneath the cocktail tray.

Along the windows, there were also two thin storage compartments underneath the leather upholstery.

The armrest on the right side had a few built-in IFE buttons as well as the IFE remote.

Each first-class suite also had two USB-A ports and two 110V universal outlets beneath the armrest.

Within the armrest on the left side were the seat controls including buttons for recline, ottoman, headrest, and full flat position. There was also a built-in privacy screen that could be raised or lowered with the push of a button.

Awaiting each passenger at the seat was a pair of nice Bose headphones hard-wired into the seat. Each passenger was also given a Wi-Fi voucher for complimentary internet use throughout the flight.

In addition, each passenger was given a pair of well-padded Cumuli branded slippers and Van Laack branded pajamas.

A special edition Oktoberfest amenity kit was also provided which resembled a small tablet/document sleeve. Contents included socks, eye mask, comb, earplugs, mint, toothbrush kit, as well as Augustinus Bader branded cream.

Upon taking my seat, the flight attendant came by and offered me a glass of Champagne. Lufthansa had on offer both the excellent Laurent-Perrier Grand Siecle as well as a special edition 2007 Laurent-Perrier Grand Curvee Rose Alexandra. I had a glass of the fantastic rose with a ramekin of macadamia nuts.

The food and beverage menus were presented next. On this flight, both a lunch service and a light pre-landing snack service were offered. My order for lunch was taken on the ground.

The First-class cabin ended up full on this flight, but the flight attendants never left me feeling unattended. Fortunately, a few passengers had not shown up to the gate for boarding, and their luggage had to be offloaded from the aircraft, which delayed our flight 50 minutes from 10:45 to 11:32 AM. However, I didn’t mind the delay, enjoying an extra glass or two of champagne and the additional time in Lufthansa’s First Class.

We finally pushed back at 11:32 AM and had a 13-minute taxi to the runway before taking off at 11:45 AM.

The full Lufthansa first-class onboard service started 30 minutes after take-off with a hot towel service.

It was followed 12 minutes later with an amuse-bouche of a slice of duck with cream and couscous. I decided to switch my champagne to the Grand Siecle.

Next, the table was meticulously set, and a warm bread basket was offered. I had two slices of delicious garlic bread.

To start, I enjoyed the signature Lufthansa caviar service. Accompaniments included sliced onions, diced egg white, and diced egg yolk. Additional bread options included a potato latke, white bread, and more garlic bread.

A few things missing to perfect the caviar service would have been chives, crème fraiche, as well as blinis.

My next course was a sampling of a trio of appetizers.

The first appetizer was a tataki-style salmon trout over a bed of crunchy pickled Kohlrabi, celery, and cashews, which was divine.

I also tried the marinated carrot rolls with lemon gel and acai berries, which was tasty as well. The final appetizer was an excellent slice of veal with pickled radish on top of a pretzel dumpling. These three appetizers were the best I have ever had on board an aircraft and rivaled restaurant quality food on the ground.

After the appetizers, I decided to skip the soup course, which would have been a poultry consommé, and proceed into the main course. For the main dish, I opted for the herb-crusted beef fillet served with thin slices of crispy apple over asparagus and wild mushrooms.

While the flavor profile was fantastic, I had originally asked for medium-rare, but the steak was overcooked to well done.

The cheese course included an excellent selection of six different cheeses along with walnuts, grapes, and mango pepper chutney.

Finally, for dessert, I had the Tarte Tatin with Vanilla.

After the lunch service, two hours and 30 minutes into the flight, the flight attendants dimmed the lights and proactively offered to make my bed.

I went to the lavatory to change into my pajamas as the bed was being set up. On the Lufthansa B747-8I, there are two First-class lavatories immediately behind the cabin next to the galley.

Each lavatory had a window as well as mood lighting to make this lavatory more upscale compared to the business-class lavatories. In addition, the seat cover was well-padded leather and there was a small bench next to the toilet seat for more room to sit down and change.

Amenities included razors and shaving cream, facial wipes and makeup remover, mouthwash, Evian branded facial spray, Augustinus Bader hand cream, and a deodorant spray.

When I returned to my seat, the flight attendants had also provided a bottle of water.

Lufthansa’s First-class bedding includes a very well-padded mattress pad, a temperature-regulating duvet, and two thick pillows. Despite being a daytime flight, I managed to sleep for three hours due to the comfortable bedding and seat.

Just for comparison, the entire surface area of the bed was similar to that of a twin-size bed with a width of 30.5” compared to 38” of a Twin while the length was 81” compared to 75” of a Twin.

The pre-landing meal was served 90 minutes before landing. To start, I had the Oktoberfest special of a Brotzeitbretti (charcuterie board) which consisted of black forest ham, liver sausage, blood sausage, pepper sausage, Bavarian style cream cheese, pickled rashi, cauliflower, grapes, and pickle. I also had an excellent cappuccino. Another bread basket was offered and I had a slightly stale Bavarian pretzel.

Next, I enjoyed a hearty parsnip soup with fried spinach and crispy potato straws. At this point, I was too full to proceed with the gourmet salad or dessert options.

As we approached Chicago, the flight attendants also passed out a special Oktoberfest celebration cookie and a bag of candied almonds.

We landed in Chicago at 1:04PM local time and had a relatively quick 10-minute taxi to Terminal 5. Flight attendants blocked business class passengers from deplaning until all First-class passengers had the opportunity to deplane first as the doors opened.

This flight was truly unforgettable. The B747-8I holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite aircraft, thanks to its rich history. Flying in First class was a privilege I’m grateful for. While this flight ranks as one of the best, the Etihad A380 Apartments still claim the top spot on my list of First-class experiences.

Trip Report: Lufthansa (A340-300) Business FRA-BOS

The Details

  • Flight: LH422
  • Aircraft: A340-300
  • Class: Business
  • Seat: 4A and 4C
  • Route: Frankfurt Main (FRA)-Boston Logan (BOS)
  • Distance: 3,810 miles
  • Duration: 8hrs 27min
  • Departure: 11:52AM
  • Arrival 2:19PM

The Preflight

After arriving from our connecting flight from Prague, we had a three-hour layover in Frankfurt. We quickly made our way from the Schengen area to the border checkpoint for flights to Non-Schengen countries. There were different lanes marked for Economy, Business, and First class passengers. However, there was no enforcement and simply a mass of people trying to get into any line that was open. It took us about 20 minutes before passing this line.

Once we got to the non-Schengen area, we headed towards the Lufthansa Business Lounge Z gates. There was again another line for COVID documents (negative COVID-19 test or vaccination card)

We were directed upstairs to the Business Lounge. Immediately upon getting off the escalator was the buffet area.

Cold food options included oats, fruit, and pretzels. The cheese pretzels were amazing…

There were a few espresso machines spread throughout the lounge.

Snacks included nuts, dried fruit, and chips.

Hot options included scrambled eggs and baked beans.

Carb options included warmed croissants and cold bread.

A selection of cold cuts and cheese was also offered.

Drinks included water, Coke Zero, beer, and juice. There was also beer on tap along with a few wines.

There was a bundt cake for dessert.

The lounge was incredibly packed with very few couches available for seating. It took us a while to find two sofas next to each over.

Views of the apron were restricted by bars on the window. There was a great lineup of Lufthansa heavies prior to the morning bank to the United States including A340s and B747s.

90 minutes prior to our scheduled boarding time of 10:30AM, lounge staff made announcements that the COVID document check line for departure was getting long and we should make our way to that line. My fiance and I decided to wait another 10 minutes before leaving the lounge which turned out to be a good idea. There was a snaking line of a few hundred passengers trying to get past the COVID document check. It took us nearly an hour to get through the document check and got to the gate area just a few minutes before boarding was scheduled to begin.

Our aircraft was a beautiful A340-300, registration D-AIGT, which was delivered brand new to Lufthansa in December of 1999. She was 22 years old but sporting the new Lufthansa livery.

I had never flown aboard the A340-300 before and I was excited to check off a new aircraft. Rather than fly directly home to Chicago, we elected to fly through Boston and then on to Chicago to fly this plane.

Boarding began at exactly 10:30AM. Business-class and Star Alliance Gold passengers were invited to board first.

The Flight

There were a total of 30 business class seats in a single cabin between the first and second set of doors. This version of the A340-300 also had 28 Premium Economy and 221 Economy seats.

Seats were arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. The seats in the window side were arranged facing outward while the seats in the middle faced one another.

We were seated in 4A and 4C in the second to last row of the cabin. Each seat offered a standard 20.5 inches of width and 64 inches of pitch.

There was a fairly average-sized entertainment screen which was not a touch screen. I had to use the IFE remote to move the target reticle over the options I wanted to select… very annoying.

There was a good inflight map.

Below the entertainment screen was a literature pocket with a safety card.

There was also a small storage bin which was where the water bottle and amenity kit were stored.

The one nice feature of these seats was that the footwell was unrestricted. I could sleep sideways without having my feet limited to a cubby. This was also much nicer than the B747-8I business seats where the feet were angled toward each other.

Each seat also had a coat hook and even a glasses hook which I appreciated.

The center console had individual spaces to place drinks. Seat controls were also built into the armrest. Options included the ability to adjust the firmness of the seat in addition to basic functions such as recline and lumbar support.

Underneath the armrest was where the tray table and IFE remote was stored.

The tray table could be folded outwards length-wise.

Below the center console were two USB ports. One did not work… Surprisingly, there were no power outlets.

On the window side of the seat were an adjustable armrest and a small storage bin where the headphones were bolted into the seat.

A large comfortable pillow was waiting for us at the seat along with a thick but fluffy blanket.

The headphones were noise-reducing but not very comfortable around the ears.

The amenities came in a re-usable bag. Contents included a toothbrush, toothpaste, mint, socks, hand cream, and lip balm.

Once we were seated, flight attendants came by with pre-departure beverages. Choices were sparking wine, still water, or orange juice.

A nice large bottle of water was also provided at the seat.

Menus were also passed out.

At 10:53AM boarding was completed and the doors closed. Unfortunately, there was a cargo delay and we eventually pushed back 26 minutes after our scheduled departure around 11:36AM.

Our taxi took about 20 minutes due to the heavy traffic. On our way, I had a great view of a majestic B747-400.

Finally, at 11:51AM we took off from runway 7C bound for Boston.

We had a great view of both Frankfurt Airport and downtown Frankfurt.

Once we reached cruising altitude, the purser came to introduce herself to my fiance and me. She also asked what we would like to drink.

I had a glass of the Duval Leroy Brut champagne along with still water. A ramekin of almonds was also served.

We soon crossed over the English Channel.

Lunch was served forty minutes after take-off. Both the appetizer and the main course were served on one tray. My fiance had the marinated beef appetizer along with the corn-fed chicken. The chicken was flavorful and the side of creamy barley was delicious as well.

The marinated beef came with pickled mango and celery which were very tasty.

I had the spiced salmon with avocado mousse which was OK. My main of cod was cooked perfectly and also delicious.

For dessert, my fiance got the vanilla ice cream with delicious chocolate pebbles.

I had an excellent cheese plate with sesame honey chutney along with an espresso. Perfect.

Chocolate truffles were handed out at the conclusion of the main lunch service.

Most passengers napped after the lunch service however I stayed up for a bit to watch the new James Bond movie No Time to Die.

I eventually try the bedding onboard which was comfortable enough for a trans-Atlantic business class during the daytime. My fiance managed to nap the majority of the flight. Because there were no individual air vents, the cabin was also uncomfortably hot.

The business class lavatory was incredibly sparse. Besides the hand lotion, it was indistinguishable from an economy lavatory.

Most of our journey across the Atlantic was with thick clouds covering the ocean.

An hour and twenty minutes before arrival, another warm meal was served. This time, the breadbasket included hot pretzels. My fiance had the German roast beef with potato salad which was excellent.

I had the palak paneer with chana masala as well as a piece of roti. This Indian dish was incredibly tasty and one of the best curries I’ve had in the air. I had a great amount of heat and flavor all packed together. Dessert consisted of roasted almond cream with caramel sauce.

Flight attendants came through to prep the cabin 35 minutes prior to landing.

It was a beautiful day in Boston with clear skies and expansive views of Marblehead and Fort Seawall.

We landed at 2:19PM EST on runway 22L with the engine thrust reversers open.

It was a short six-minute taxi to our gate E10 and soon we were on our way to the Global Entry kiosks. Thanks for the ride!
