The Preflight
After spending some time in the Phoenix AMEX Centurion Lounge, I made my way to gate A17 for my final flight home to Indy.
Our B737-800 today, registration N842NN, was delivered brand new to American Airlines in June 2010.

The Flight
All American B737-800s now feature a total of 156 Collins Meridian slimline seats arranged in a 3-3 configuration. Rows 8-9 are designated Main Cabin Extra with 33 inches of pitch (compared to a standard 30-inch in regular Main Cabin). Both exit rows 16 and 17 are also designated Main Cabin Extra with 37 inches of pitch. I was seated in 8F, the first row of the main cabin just behind the first class divider.

Each seat was 17.5 inches wide and had three inches of recline. There is a small bulkhead cover between Domestic First and Main Cabin which did not restrict the legroom of the seat.

Within the armrest was a bi-fold tray tablet with a built-in tablet holder. All seats also had a 110V outlet and USB port underneath the armrest.

The boarding process took over 40 minutes to complete with the doors closing at 5:48PM. We pushed back two minutes later at 5:50PM. Our takeoff at 5:59PM gave us beautiful sunset views of downtown Phoenix.

The flight attendants came through the cabin with a beverage service 15 minutes after take-off. Main Cabin Extra passengers are allowed a complimentary alcoholic beverage in addition to the usual drinks.

I had a Woodford Reserve served with a small bag of pretzels.

The flight attendants dimmed the lights for the remainder of the evening until we were on approach into Indy. We touched down at 10:45PM with a seven-minute taxi to the gate.

This was another average flight with American Airlines. I appreciate how American offers complimentary alcoholic drinks in Main Cabin Extra which definitely makes me choose them over United (which does not give free alcohol) if given the choice.
